Description

The Princess Diaries is a movie about a socially awkward but very bright 15-year-old girl being raised by a single mom. She discovers that she is the princess of a small European country. With the death of her long-absent father, she discovers that he was the prince of Genovia and that she is a princess. In this project, I selected a favorite film and conceived a promotional campaign for a Broadway or off-Broadway version of the story.

Insights

In 2001 when The Princess Diaries movie launched, the intended market was 12-14 year olds. Twenty years later, the film still resonates with pre-teen girls and with now with women who remember it as part of their young lives. So how might we tap into that nostalgia by bringing back The Princess Diaries movie today? By creating outfits using interactive social platforms, audiences can dress their Bitmoji icons in the costumes from the film and similarly dress their Sims as real-life princesses. In addition, there will be a Princess Diaries Ballroom Tiktok Event for Tiktok influencers to celebrate opening night.
